Takayama has less than 90,000 people living.
It is located in the center of Japan and it is the largest city in Japan.
It is very rich in nature. More than 90% of it is consisted of mountains and forests. Since it is surrounded by tall mountains, this place was isolated until the construction of the rail ways in 1934. Thus the unique culture here was well preserved. It is now gaining popularity as a sightseeing spot especially for foreigners who want to feel the traditional Japan.
If you have a chance to visit Japan, I strongly recommend coming to Takayama. This area has something that other parts of Japan don’t have(or lost). It is full of amazing wooden houses, shrines, and temple. The art works and craftsmanship are breathtaking and inspiring.
