Hi, I’m Taka. Let me talk about myself a bit here.
I’m a Japanese artist and originally from Tokyo.
To get away from the stressful environment in big cities and also to concentrate more on creating art works, I moved to a beautiful rural area, Takayama city, in Gifu prefecture in 2017. (*After the COVID pandemic, I had to come back to Tokyo. Now I go back and forth between Tokyo and Takayama)
When I was a high school student, I got really into western music and foreign cultures. I self-taught music (and studied English a lot) for about 3 years and then moved to the U.S with nothing but my guitar. I was 18.
I lived in Florida for 3 years and took some music classes at a college for 3 years. It was an amazing experience and I found it is very important to always be open-minded to different kinds of art, community, and culture.
After finishing the music program there, I went back to Tokyo and lived in Kichijoji (which is my hometown), Shibuya, and then Roppongi. Besides being a musician, I took many kinds of jobs from acting to web marketing (and once worked as a manager of a temple as well), but I have mostly been working as a composer, editor, and an English teacher throughout my life so far.
I decided to open this website so that I can get connections with people all over the world, introduce Takayama, and also to promote my music and things that I’m working on.
I would also like to discuss how we should live in this rapidly
changing society.
Is living in a big city really beneficial? What is to “work” while technologies are taking places? How do you want to spend your life time?
I will post my opinions and some questions to you on my blog, so feel free to join and give me some comments.
For your inspiration and better life.
Taka
